On arrival at Cape Town Airport you will be met by your Registered Guide and transferred to the Vineyard Hotel in Newlands for five nights accommodation in a standard courtyard facing double room. The Hotel offers beautiful uninterrupted views of Table Mountain and staying at the Vineyard combines the unique experience of Cape history, landscape, design and hospitality with all the expected comforts of an outstanding modern hotel. Known for its spectacular quiet setting, attentive hospitality, two restaurants, fine wines and excellent health and leisure facilities.
An air-conditioned car will be delivered to the Vineyard Hotel mid morning.
You will be collected by your guide for a private Cape Town & Peninsular Tour. This is designed not only to show you many of the important and magnificent sights but also for you to orientate yourself to your new surroundings. To see what the Cape has to offer, how to get from A to B, where to eat, where to drink, where to swim and to answer any questions that you may have. After this day you will feel confident to drive on your own and ready to explore in more detail in your own time. Highlights of the tour to include the Cape of Good Hope, the Penguins at Boulders Beach, Simons Town, and the Twelve Apostles.
Day Three and Four
Enjoy some golf at nearby Steenberg or Clovelly. T-off times will be booked for you. Visit the Waterfront or any of the wonderful beaches and attractions of the Cape.
Day Five and Six
Depart Cape Town for the beautiful Overberg coast, a pleasant two and a half hours’ drive from Cape Town. This coastline is still a quiet, unspoilt and little known part of South Africa although it offers some of the world’s best whale watching. Arniston itself is a 200 year old quaint fishing village with long beaches and beautiful sand dunes.
Enjoy two nights accommodation in a luxury sea facing room at the lovely Arniston Hotel. There are fabulous dune walks to be enjoyed, fishing with the locals, and a golf course.
Day Seven and Eight
Take your time and enjoy a leisurely drive to Knysna, crossing the Breede River on a hand-drawn pontoon at Malgas, which is believed to be the last remaining hand-drawn pont operating in South Africa. Spend two nights at Belvidere Manor in Knysna in a deluxe garden cottage. A beautifully restored house which presides over 10-acres of manicured gardens with lovely views of the lagoon and surrounding forests. It is nestled on the shores of the Knysna Lagoon amidst old oaks and hibiscus. Accommodation is offered in private cottages, each have a comfortable lounge with open fireplace, kitchen, en suite double bedrooms, telephone and satellite television. Savour farmhouse breakfast on the verandah with superb views of the lagoon, sample a light lunch beside the pool or take a picnic and visit the many scenic attractions in the area. There is an attractive dining room adorned with polished yellow-wood floors and Cape antiques and a quaint pub situated in the original quaint farmhouse. At leisure to explore the beauty of Knysna, to visit the Knysna Heads, eat Oysters, take a trip across the lagoon to Featherbed Nature Reserve or just relax.
Day Nine, Ten and Eleven
Drive further along the Garden Route to the peaceful Lairds Lodge Country House for three nights accommodation. Here you will enjoy mouth-watering gourmet meals, fine wines and comfortable, spacious accommodation. This gracious Cape Dutch Homestead, set in a 24 acre estate, offers spectacular mountain views, a secluded pool and genuine South African hospitality. It is perfectly positioned between Knysna and Plettenberg Bay with easy access to superb beaches, world class golf courses, wonderful walks and boat trips to view the magnificent whales and dolphins. Oyster tasting and Monkeyland are some of the other many attractions.
Leave the Garden Route and travel into the Eastern Cape and two nights at the delightful, recently upgraded Elephant House. A beautiful place set on a racehorse stud with spacious, individually decorated rooms. After a hot day in the bush, relax at the sparkling swimming pool and lie on a comfortable deckchair under indigenous trees. Enjoy a sundowner before a sumptuous candle light dinner prepared with great personal attention and flair. Elephant House is only minutes away from Addo Elephant National Park where you can see the biggest population of elephants in southern Africa.
Full day at at the malaria-free Shamwari Game Reserve, which started some years ago as a serious conservation project to protect endangered and injured African animals and is now home to the big five.
Spend the morning exploring Addo Elephant park, with arguably the best elephant viewing in South Africa, also the domain of the Cape Buffalo, Black Rhino, numerous antelope species and a wealth of bird life. Tours can be pre-booked or you can drive yourself. In the afternoon return your car to Port Elizabeth Airport and take a domestic flight to either Cape Town or Johannesburg to connect with your International Departure.
