Joburg Tourism has unveiled its calendar
Joburg Tourism has unveiled its calendar of events taking place in September in honour of Tourism Month. Highlights include the 21st World Orchid Conference, the Standard Bank Joy of Jazz festival, and the Soweto Wine and Lifestyle Festival.
The 21st World Orchid Conference & Show (WOC21) will take place from September 10 to 14 at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg. The theme for the event is: ‘Orchids: Gold in the Green Age’. Guests can look forward to orchid exhibits, a flower show as well as talks from experts on topics including the cultivation of orchids.
The Standard Bank Joy of Jazz festival will see jazz musicians from across the globe, including Grammy Award winner Dianne Reeves, trombonist Delfeayo Marsalis and South African musical legends Sibongile Khumalo and Jonas Gwangwa take to the stage as part of this year’s festival line-up. The festival will take place at the Sandton Convention Centre from September 25-27.
The Soweto Wine and Lifestyle festival offers tastings of over 900 local wines over three nights. Winemakers from all over the country will discuss and showcase their wines. There is also a wide range of food on sale. The festival takes place on September 4, 5 and 6.
Other events supported by Joburg Tourism include the Arts Alive International Festival (August 31-September 10), FNB Whisky Live (November 12-14), Momentum 94.7 Cycle Race (November 16), Soweto Fashion Week (November 26-29) and the Sansui Summer Cup (November 29).
